British Society of Aesthetics Opens Funding for UK Conferences

The British Society of Aesthetics (BSA) aims to promote study, research and discussion of the fine arts and related types of experience from a philosophical, psychological, sociological, historical, critical and educational standpoint.

The Society’s latest round of funding includes two initiatives to support those organising conferences in the UK:

  • BSA Connections Conference Grant for conferences that enhance the dialogue between aesthetics and other areas of philosophy.
  • BSA Synergy Conference Grant for conferences that enhance the dialogue between analytic philosophers and historians, theorists, critics or practitioners of any of the individual arts.

Both these initiatives are open to individuals or groups, either within or outside the UK, who are interested in organising an appropriate conference. Supported events must be held in the UK within one year of notification of a successful application, and the Society expects conference organisers to be responsible for all practical matters concerning the running of these events.

One award of up to £12,000 can be made under each initiative in each round of funding.

The deadline for submissions is 21 January 2019.
