NBER Announces Research Grants on Women, Victimization and COVID-19

Thursday, 23 April, 2020

The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), with support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, seeks to advance understanding of women’s role in the economy by supporting early-stage research projects.

The NBER is offering research grants to support projects related to women, victimisation and domestic violence with emphasis on the impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic. Research projects can focus on both developing and developed nations.

Applications are welcome from:

  • Untenured faculty members.
  • Postdoctoral and advanced doctoral students (a letter of recommendation from a senior researcher who is knowledgeable about the project must be provided).

Applicants must be current affiliates of an academic institution. Researchers with and without NBER affiliations and researchers who are members of groups that are under-represented in economics are especially welcome.

Up to four grants of $20,000 each are available. Grant funds may be used to cover costs associated with travel, data acquisition and other research expenses.

Applications must be submitted by the deadline of 11 May 2020.
